Training Classes
CERT Basic Skills Training is Free
FEMA-certified instructors provide both classroom and hands-on training. Training occurs over multiple days as shown below.
Topics include:

- Home and community disaster preparedness
- Fire safety and utility controls
- Triage and basic medical care
- Light search and rescue
- CERT organization and mobilization
Upon graduation, each CERT graduate receives a certificate and backpack filled with basic supplies, a helmet, and a vest.

Lakewood Ranch CERT
East Manatee Fire Administration Building at 3200 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. Note there is limited space for people who are not part of the Lakewood Ranch CERT CDD.

- October 2025 Training – October 16, 18, 20, and 25.
NOTE: Thursday classes start 6:30pm. Saturday classes start 8:00am.
Upon graduation, each CERT graduate receives a certificate and backpack filled with basic supplies, a helmet, and a vest.
To register, go to lwrcert.org/ready-to-enroll. After you complete the application, Valerie Voutsas (941-362-2189) will contact you to complete the registration process.
River Club

One 3-day session is currently scheduled for CERT Basic Training.

Trailer Estates CERT
Classes are in the Bayshore Gardens Park and Recreation Center. 6919 26th St. W. in Bradenton, just a short distance north of the airport. We welcome volunteers from all of Manatee County.

Classes are scheduled from 10:00AM to 2:00PM each day but will not likely last for the entire booked time.

Trailer Estates CERT Ham Radio License Prep Class
Trailer Estates in offering a ham radio license preparation class. You do not have to be a CERT volunteer to attend this class or to receive a Ham radio license.
Email Dan Smith: smithdpjr44@outlook.com to indicate your interest in registering for a future class.
They request a $5.00 donation per attendee to cover the cost of the supplies for this class.
